Resume Tip #8: Your resume should contain the IPA transcription of your name
There are 6,909 living languages around the world. To be able to pronounce each other’s name, the International Phonetic Association devised the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), which is a standardized representation of the sounds of any spoken language.
Resume Tip #8: Your resume should contain the IPA transcription of your name.
What you need to do:
- Go over the International Phonetic Alphabet and try to understand it;
- Transcribe your first and last name to include the correct phonemes, intonation and syllables.
While this piece of advice is uncommon, it’ll allow your resume to stand out from the rest, and that’s exactly what you want when applying for a position.
